Solubility: sol dichloromethane, hexane.

Preparative Methods: to a solution of Trimethylaluminum in dichloromethane at -78 °C was added 1 equiv of Trifluoromethanesulfonic Acid. The resulting mixture was stirred at -78 °C for 30 min and 0 °C for 30 min under N2.1

Handling, Storage, and Precautions: generated in situ and used directly.

Dimethylaluminum trifluoromethanesulfonate is used as a Lewis acid for alkenic cyclizations (eq 1),1 cationic rearrangements (eq 2),2 and epoxide-initiated cation-alkene cyclizations (eq 3).3
